Summary:Aerodyn is seeking a highly skilled and energetic manufacturing estimator with background experience in high precision manufacturing. Additionally, this individual will need to be able to multi-task, engage with our manufacturing and Quality teams, and develop highly effective customer relationships.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and evaluate request for manufacturing department quotes (RFQs) from customers:
  • Discuss questions with the customer to ensure complete comprehension of the customer’s technical needs and requirements.
  • Participate in contract review processes to ensure all information is accurate and precise while enabling the company to move forward strategically;
  • Review historical quotes for similar/exact parts and/or their variations while reviewing profitability for accurate quoting.
  • Provide accurate estimates for scope of work/prices for all manufactured components/assemblies through the manufacturing department:
  • Provide support through proper information utilizing outside vendors for any material/hardware pricing and ensuring that all estimates reflect current and precise quoting on the scope of work outlined;
  • Thoroughly comprehend the Bill of Materials (BOMs) and have a strong understanding of any required special outside processes;
  • Work with purchasing department to discuss requirements with outside vendors to ensure best possible prices while never compromising the quality of materials including the preparation of pricing from multiple sources.
  • Utilization of CAD software to review part data.
  • Review and ensure all quotes are processed timely by their due dates. This includes allowing time for management review processes.
  • Responsible for reviewing quotes with management and releasing the quote to business development team for on-time processing.
  • Will follow up and review with business development team on any win/loss quoting metrics and will evaluate quoting processes for possible improvements.
  • Reviews with management profitability of manufactured components to ensure quoting efforts are accurate and effective.
  • Will oversee and administer any expedite and process review plans to meet optimal production and throughput timelines.
  • Evaluate lessons learned and budgets with project managers for continual improvement.

Mandatory Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to present data to both internal and external customers and managers. Must be responsive to the needs of all customers.
  • Must be able to multi-task, stay organized and be able to report out on the status of any quote at any given time. Must be able to prioritize work daily.
  • Technical skills in process engineering and quality assurance are required.
  • Must be self-directed and able to deliver under pressure, meeting customer and management deadlines.
  • Must be able to interpret engineering/tool designs and understand the use/application of learning curves to obtain labor hours for quantity quoted.
  • Must be highly motivated and self-starter and be comfortable operating independently as well as within a team environment.
  • Must have high levels of computer literacy including CAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Must have a strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrate the ability to develop creative solutions to problems.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Degree or similar is preferred
  • 5 – 7 years of experience in advanced manufacturing machining processes and program management.
  • Familiarity with the capabilities/limitations of all conventional/CNC machines and welding equipment.
  • Experience in Epicor or similar ERP systems is preferred
