The Process Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, enhance product quality, and ensure a safe working environment. This role works closely with engineering, plant leadership, and cross-functional teams to drive improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and productivity using Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
Key Responsibilities
Process Analysis & Improvement
- Analyze manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks.
- Develop and implement methods to improve product quality, reduce scrap, and increase efficiency.
- Lead process improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
- Monitor KPIs including cycle time, scrap rate, downtime, and labor efficiency.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions.
Ergonomics & Facility Design
- Design and optimize layouts and ergonomic workstations.
- Specify and validate new equipment, tooling, and process changes.
- Support equipment trials and capability studies.
Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
- Apply Lean and Six Sigma tools to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
- Maintain knowledge of manufacturing best practices and technology advancements.
New Product & Process Introduction
- Support the introduction of new products and processes.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation.
- Manage capital equipment projects from justification through implementation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with production, maintenance, quality, and safety teams.
- Provide technical training and support to operators and production staff.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering required.
- 5 years of engineering experience in manufacturing or production.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing systems, process control, and automation.
- Proficiency with Lean and Six Sigma tools and data analysis.
- Experience with CAD software and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills with ability to work across departments.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
