Summary of Position: 

This position is primarily responsible for performing skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, repair, adjustment, and process improvement of all equipment and processes used in fabrication of spinners to support fiberglass operations. Performs maintenance, including reactive, preventative and predictive by troubleshooting and having the skills to use all troubleshooting equipment. Updates controls and makes improvements to automated cells. Incessant focus on continuous improvement, equipment optimization and product quality. Ability to read, understand and update mechanical and electrical schematics. Conduct SAP movements around maintenance and operations. Will develop a solid understanding of E-B drilling process/machine relative to measurements, adjustments, electrical components, mechanical components and documentation. Expected to make important decisions and complete all tasks under minimal supervision. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure equipment within facility is in compliance with all safety standards\
  • Plan and perform predictive, preventative and non-preventative maintenance on all equipment within the facility
  • Maintain predictive, preventive and non-preventive maintenance logs and appropriate records for all machines
  • Update the SAP system for all maintenance and operational functions
  • Ability to use troubleshooting equipment
  • Write new programs or change existing programs for all equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues with all machines to identify quality and productivity issues and repair and/or adjust to correct
  • Update controls and assess automated cells
  • Ability to read and update PLC
  • Conduct risk assessments prior to conducting any maintenance
  • Use and update schematics and e-plans
  • Develop and maintain maintenance procedures in line with Knauf procedural guidelines
  • Develop and maintain a spare parts system
  • Minimized downtime with effective PM and maintenance practices
  • Process and continuous improvement in all facets of the KIT Shop and processes within
  • Lead and coach Spinner Shop Technicians at any level
  • Knows and understands all safety procedures and requirements
  • Knowledge of how to operate all internal equipment
  • Set up fixtures/tooling for the machines
  • Handle waste materials from the processes
  • Provide support to sister shop in Belgium 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education: 

  • Associate’s Degree in EET or automation controls related degree or equivalent work experience
  • Bachelors Degree preferred

Experience:

  • Senior level understanding of EB drilling (preferred, but can learn)
  • Senior level electrical and mechanical troubleshooting experience
  • Moderate level understanding of controls systems

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, correct and maintain the machinery within the shop
  • Proven ability to produce high quality products that meet specifications
  • Proven ability to maintain an accurate production schedule
  • Proven ability to read and understand drawings
  • Understanding of screw line pumps
  • Ability to use SAP
  • Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization and work well in a team environment
  • Ability to effectively integrate performance planning and development processes
  • Ability to complete all tasks in a timely manner under limited supervision
  • Ability to make quick decisions that largely impact the business
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability of how to identify, implement and sustain continuous improvement projects
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability of quality systems and the use of measuring equipment
  • Listening skills
  • Must be able to pass physical to qualify to operate a box truck per Knauf guidelines
  • Must be able to pass operating training/test to operate a fork lift
  • Computer skills in MS Windows environment; proficient in Word, PowerPoint and Excel
