Job Title: Amplifier Technician
Company: Spacek Labs Location: Santa Barbara, CA Description: Spacek Labs is looking for an assembly and test technician to build microwave and millimeter-wave amplifiers. Candidate must be good with their hands and have experience working with small, delicate parts that require work under a microscope. Candidate must have experience with test equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal sources and power meters. They should demonstrate accuracy and consistency in their work and a desire to work on new things, as we build a wide variety of products in smaller quantities. Experience required in wirebonding and assembly of microwave/millimeter-wave components. Cell-based Profiling Team (SSCB: This position will perform high throughput screening (HTS) assays using a variety of platform technologies to characterize new chemical entities for our customers. This position will work as part of a team to deliver critical data to customers. The position requires following detailed protocols as well as the collection and analysis of screening data. Essential Functions: ? Use of basic laboratory skills in cell biology or a related field to run HTS assays with a solid scientific understanding of processes. ? Analyze data and generate reports that will go to customers using templates and software programs built for the service. ? Able to identify problems in screening assays and provide ideas to supervisor for solutions to simple technical problems so that only robust data is communicated to the customer. ? Maintain, track, and monitor inventory levels for HTS assay components using internal databases as well as physical inventories to ensure reagents are available for projects to complete with a rapid turn around. ? Assist with screening projects from compound receipt to collecting the data, processing the data and generating the report to provide to their supervisor in order to keep service operating smoothly. ? Able to run routine screening projects with no additional instructions and follow new instructions when changes are made to the process in order to achieve technical results and high quality data. ? Maintain complete and thorough lab documentation and assist in writing SOPs as existing processes change. Advise senior team members and supervisor of factors that may affect quality, accuracy and usefulness of data. ? Respond quickly to changing priorities and handle multiple projects with potentially overlapping deadlines in order to meet customer expectations. ? Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve standard laboratory techniques, improve protocols, processes and equipment. ? Comply with all company safety regulations and procedures. ? May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned. Nature and Scope: Position exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Perform duties with general direction by supervisor and work closely with supervisor and HTS Profiling Team to complete projects.
