An incumbent in this role must be able to efficiently plan, coordinate, manage activities and supervise employees within Biological Production in the assigned area to ensure that products are produced in accordance with appropriate regulatory requirements in a manner that meets the needs of the Animal Health Business Plan. Qualifications Bachelors degree in a related sciencepreferred, i.e. Microbiology, Biology, with five years relevant experience. Relevant experience is considered working in the field of Biologicals and supervisory experience. Associate degree, in a related science is required, i.e. Microbiology, Biology, with a minimum seven years relevant experience. Relevant experience is considered working in the field of Biologicals and supervisory experience. Experience in tissue culture (Marek's manufacturing) preferred. Proven ability to motivate and lead personnel. Effective interpersonal communications skills are required. Individual must be able to work with colleagues at various levels and departments. Working knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) is needed to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies. An understanding of mechanical and/or production line applications, logistics/planning. Experience in manufacturer resource planning, cost analysis and budgeting are preferred. In order to meet the challenging technical and service requirements of our customers, we are in need of an energetic self-motivated individual with a successful track record as a Production Supervisor and demonstrated knowledge and skills in supervision, production methods, inventory control, and quality assurance. The successful candidate will enjoy an exciting and fast-paced work environment where initiative, accountability, and teamwork are key. The production supervisor is involved in both the pre-production (planning) stage as well as the production (control and supervision) stage. A large part of the job involves dealing with people, particularly those who work in your team as well as external suppliers, other Sky-Trax departments, and management. The production supervisor ensures that goods and services are produced efficiently; that they are of the right quality, quantity, and cost; and that they are produced on time, to the satisfaction of the customer. The Production Supervisor is a working supervisor and will be expected to perform production tasks as needed as well as supervise the activities of other production personnel engaged in all facets of the production function. The Production Supervisor will be expected to perform the following tasks and duties: ? oversee the production processes; ? produce production schedules; ? ensure that the production is cost effective and on time; ? supervising production employees and contractors for optimum productivity; ? design production methods and tools to improve efficiency and productivity; ? set up work areas and tools for production operations; ? define and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); ? monitor vendors and supplier performance to assure quality and on-time delivery; ? ensure that products are produced on time and are of good quality; ? determine the human and material resources needed to meet production requirements; ? set the quality standards, inspect output, and assure quality standards are consistently met; ? monitor the timeliness of production processes and adjust schedules as needed; ? be responsible for the selection and maintenance of equipment; ? liaise among different departments, e.g. suppliers, managers; ? maintain production records and quality records; ? establish performance metrics, maintain performance records, and continuously improve; ? ensure that all orders are complete and correct when packed for shipment; ? control production inventory and maintain accurate inventory records; ? work with managers to implement the company's policies and goals; ? ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed; ? train, supervise and motivate the production staff; ? review the performance of subordinates and provide feedback, counseling, and reports; ? other tasks as requested by Sky-Trax management. Requirements: Ten plus years of manufacturing experience with at least five years of experience in a production supervisor role. A Bachelors degree in a technical field or related field is desired. Additional years of relevant experience as a Production Manager may be substituted for educational requirements. Knowledge and experience in: Supervision of production employees, hourly, part-time Manufacturing processes, methods, and tools Inventory management and control Manufacturing Quality Assurance methods and tools Production economics, metrics, and production costing Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office, including MS-Excel? and MS-Access? Good English language verbal and written communication skills Some local and occasional overnight travel may be required. A valid driver?s license and automobile will be required. The salary range for the Production Supervisor position is $45,000 to $52,000. This is a career-level position with opportunity for career advancement into the Production Manager position based on demonstrated ability.
