This includes auditing aggregate ordering to forecast trends, reviewing DSRP sheets and overseeing purchase orders placement in the ordering system, through either the monthly cooperative planning process or the weekly customer critical requirements process. Oversee the communication with the factories on purchase order status and the team effort with Support Services on Potential Late Shipment reports to understand and prioritize shipments in order to best meet our customer demands. Lead the Buyer-Planner staff in the performance of their duties and provide mentoring, coaching, and training to staff. Work with staff to monitor consumption of factory allotted substrate capacity by week. Recommend solutions to management on problem skus to resolve availability, scheduling, shipping and associated customer issues. Oversee the entry, audit and accurate purchase order information in all DSRP records providing an accurate product availability summary to other teams. Oversee staff in their partnership with Support Services to analyze assigned brand/sku forecasts and trends, making recommendations for changes based on the analysis. Oversee the monthly sku Capacity Reservation for the electronic forecast for assigned brands/skus. Ensure the regular measurement of sku usage to ABC code, safety time and on-hand inventory levels. Work with staff to propose ABC code and safety time changes as needed. Work with Sales VP’s to obtain sign-off of low-selling active items prior to PO placement. Modify existing purchase orders based on modified ETD’s, deferrals, or quantity changes. Oversee turn rates on each assigned sku and notify Director for any items not meeting the required turn metric. Work with New Business Development and factories on improving MOQ quantities and costs. Reconcile discrepancies in loading forms with MUS Inventory Manager and factory shipping departments. Work with the Item Transition team on the coordination of all new items, running changes and phase out skus. Oversee the review of weekly Potential Late Shipment report and advise Support Services and Director of critical issues. Regularly review the Factory Priority and Overstock report. Defer, cancel or process PO ’s based on the results. Hire, train, coach and develop Buyer-Planner staff. Monitor daily workload and performance. Prepare and give performance appraisals. Assist in the preparation and management of the annual budget for the Planning department. Assist Director with the development or implementation of new department procedures. Travel to Asia to factories for master planning with factories. All other related duties as directed by the Director of Planning. Requirements: Requires a Bachelor degree in Business or related field or equivalent work experience in production planning. Requires 5 to 6 years of experience in production planning and scheduling and inventory management in a manufacturing or distribution environment. Requires prior supervisory or management experience preferably managing a team of Buying/Planning staff. Must possess certification through APICS. Working knowledge of an order-entry system and MRP system required. Must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel at an advanced level. Must be able to multi-task and demonstrate solid organizational skills.
