Position Purpose Establish and maintain ongoing pressure vessel activity with new and existing customers as assigned. Act as pressure vessel department engineering resource. Manage shop personnel to produce quality fabrications in a safe, cost effective and timely manner. Position Responsibilities Shop Management Duties: -Provide leadership and direction to the shop foreman, assistant foreman, and other shop personnel to ensure accuracy, quality, and timely delivery for all shop fabrications. -Insure accountability is in place and enforced for all applicable rules and regulations, including ASME code, ISO procedures, Lean processes, safety requirements, and all other work rules and customer requirements. -Identify opportunities for improved efficiencies, make recommendations, and implement strategies for enhanced shop workflow and profitability. Pressure Vessel Engineer Duties: -Directly communicate with customers in the form of quotations, meetings, and presentations to understand and define their needs. Understand and respond to customer requests, both verbal and written, in a timely manner. -Establish relationships with prospective customers and prepare quotations based on customer requirements, while maintaining ongoing relationships with current customers. -Assist the Operations manager in coordinating all aspects of engineering work to design pressure retaining equipment for customers as needed. -Assist drafters in developing fabrication drawings. -Coordinate with staff to provide cost estimates, drawings, production schedules, etc. Facilitate letters of quotation and/or formal proposals for presentation to the customer. -Oversee projects from a project management perspective from the initial sale to delivery to insure that all stages of the project progress in a timely fashion. Troubleshoot and address problems as they arise, and communicate any delays or changes to the customer. Delegate to other project managers as needed. -Oversee the design and fabrication of projects to ensure that all applicable codes are followed and specifications are met. Handle all changes and resolve problems related to assigned projects. -Establish and follow-through on a personal, professional development plan including participation in industry related associations. -Maintain and support a Lean working environment. -Other duties as assigned. Summary of Skills, Knowledge and Abilities -BSME (Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent, minimum of 5 years experience, 10 plus optimal. -Interest in fabrication and design. -Ability to understand and interpret ASME vessel and piping codes. -Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. -Computer literate. -Physical ability to access job sites, including some climbing. -Ability to multi-task and prioritize as needed. -PE license and/or willingness and ability to obtain license is required -Experience in a union environment would be a plus -Training, Certification and/or experience in Lean Manufacturing -Must be familiar with welding and forming techniques Direct Reports -Piping Shop Foreman and Assistant Foreman
