This position starts Fall Term 2010 in beautiful Bend, Oregon.Position Title: Assistant Professor and Program Director, ManufacturingStatus: This is a full-time, 9.5 month tenure-track faculty position. Primary Purpose:To provide instruction and program coordination in an expanding Manufacturing program under the oversight of the Instructional Dean. This position will provide leadership and direction to the Manufacturing program including course development and assessment. This position will develop partnerships with regional manufacturing businesses and higher education institutions to expand program opportunities and support industry by training potential/current employees, ultimately assisting manufacturing companies to become more productive and profitable through the provision of a well trained workforce. The successful candidate will have a broad background in manufacturing principles and Engineering technology. Description of Duties and Responsibilities:Essential Job Functions:1.This position will supervise one full time instructor and two lab assistants. In addition, this position will provide instruction in areas such as welding, fabrication, manufacturing, CNC programming, and related areas. The instructional component includes both classroom and self-paced instruction and time to advise current and prospective students. Full-time classroom teaching and/or administrative duties requires 45 load units per 9.5 month contract. Teaching assignments may include courses taught during the day and/or evening and/or weekends.2.Provide program leadership in the Manufacturing program. This includes program budget preparation and oversight, faculty and lab assistant hiring and supervision, and program development and evaluation. The program director is expected to interface with the regional manufacturing community, manufacturing state coordinators, higher education partner, and the local advisory board.3.Oversee the safety and supervision of students in self-paced manufacturing lab.4.Track student enrollment, attendance and academic progress; submit student-grading information using college software.5.Advance articulation agreements with regional high schools, four-year colleges, and industry partners.6.Order and maintain appropriate levels of student project material and tooling supplies.7.Setup classrooms, computers, laboratories, and annex support equipment required for classes each morning. 8.Work with appropriate college personnel to assist in proposals for program funding and/or expansion.9.Perform other essential duties as assigned.
