PLANT ONLY. Responsible for managing, controlling, and directing material planning to meet production schedules. Develops, implements, and maintains policies to assure the timely flow of materials within working capital guidelines. Provides oversight and ACCOUNTABILITIES:1. Food Safety & Quality.o Responsible for food safety and quality. o Shall complete an orientation process which provides training in the Key Concepts of Food Safety and Quality. o Shall understand that identification of any failures in these areas is their responsibilityo If they identify a deficiency in Food Safety and/or Quality, they are responsible for taking corrective action and reporting the issue to their direct supervisor or Quality supervisor.o The Quality Manual is available to this employee on the shared Marshall Network drive.o Monitor production work methods to manage overall product to meet USDA and quality objectives.CHALLENGES/COMPLEXITY:Dealing with substantial numbers of ingredients, supplies, and equipment on a PC-based inventory management system while coordinating with volatile production schedules driven by consumer demands; Maintaining optimum inventories without shorting production requirements; Dealing with out-of-specification items which have to be rejected; Finding an efficient, effective system of warehousing and raw materials storage to best facilitate production and reduce waste and loss.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Directly supervises two employees: Material Planner, Associate Material Planner: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.LATITUDE/DIMENSIONS:Have the ability to deal with a variety of personalities, communicate effectively and continued flexibility while identifying potential improvements and changes in all job tasks; Able to meet daily task deadlines; Build relations with corporate personnel and vendors. KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university desired, and/or three to six years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience; Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees; Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs; Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions; CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred but not essential to the performance of this job; Will possess the ability to utilize personal computers and relevant software.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms, and taste and smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, and crouch.
