Position # 60002405Material Planner/SchedulerKohler - Hattiesburg, MSTo plan and maintain the throughput of component parts, controllinginventory levels of work in process or finished products to assure theassembly of engines to meet promises kept to our customer. Objectivesmust be maintained to minimize inventory investments and assure maximummanufacturing efficiencies. Coordinate activities and efforts requiredfor optimum utilization of components and provide direction forprioritization of these components required to support our productionplans.RESPONSIBILITIES:Analyze computerized requirement planning (MRP) to schedule allcomponent parts under his/her control.Reschedule manufactured part orders and requests reschedule of purchasedpart orders based upon changing requirements in the Production Schedule.This includes actions to both expedite and de-expedite parts and rawmaterials.Reviews requirement planning exception notices and reacts by takingaction that will correct any discrepancies between Production Schedulerequirements and production schedule capacities.Maintain accurate on-hand balances of all inventory records.Verifies component or raw material availability before releasingmanufacturing orders to the production floor.Reviews capacity restriction and load summaries of his/her respectivepart responsibilities.Establishes order policies and stocking levels for parts analyzing costof the part and its subsequent consumption.Analyzes routings to assure accuracy and lead times to supportproduction schedules.Codes and verifies all inventory fields in computer data bases to assureindividual component data integrity.Edits and analyzes inventory transactions as they relate to shop floorclockings and inventory integrity with book to perpetual inventorydocumentation.Communicates with shop supervision to verify that due dates will be metand provide feedback to Production Schedule.Explores any deviations from plan, requests to insert, conversion andrework of product under his/her control.Provides the issuance of reports, advising appropriate managementpersonnel of status of parts flow or lack there of.RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS:Supervisory Relationships:Reports to the Supervisor of Production Planning.Organization Relationships:Internal Business Relationships:Frequent contact with Purchasing to initiate purchase and expediting ofpast due material.Frequent contact with Manufacturing Supervisor, i.e. General Supervisorsand foremen, to manufacture and expedite material through machiningcenters. (Closed Loop activity).Frequent contact with Production Schedule as to component part flow andits effect on meeting production schedules.Frequent contact with Production Schedulers to assure orders on floorwill meet their ability to assemble engines and assure uptime.Frequent contact with Manufacturing Engineers to initiate and updateroutings, new parts or rework required.Moderate contact with Engineering pertaining to bill of materialintegrity.External Business Relationships:Moderate contact with vendors concerning component part, castings oroutsourcing deliveries.EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSDesired: Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or OperationsManagement with one to three years experience in an OperationsManagement related field and Apics certification.Minimum: An Associate Degree in Materials Management with three to fiveyears experience in Operations Management related field.Individual must possess strong characteristics in the area ofinitiative, attitude and perspective. Must be thorough, accurate andhave ability to communicate. Require computer systems working knowledge.
