We have an excellent opportunity for a Materials Planner/Senior Buyer in our Augusta, KY location. SUMMARY: The qualified candidate will be responsible for scheduling the production equipment to support customer orders while minimizing production costs and finished goods inventory. They will plan and purchase raw materials and other operating supplies and/or services to support the manufacturing of finished goods. Coordinates with vendors to obtain information concerning product, negotiated price, ability of vendor to provide product or service and delivery date. Maintain purchasing records to meet ISO requirements, including supplier performance score cards and participate in quarterly supplier audits. Improve information flow from plant scheduling to raw materials planning / buying to reduce materials outages. Drives continuous improvement leading to cost reductions, waste minimization, and increases Augusta?s ability to react to customer demands. Potential to supervise up to two direct reports. Major responsibilities: ? Support customer service goals by filling orders at acceptable company levels for quantity and line fill, as well as On-Time performance. ? Schedule the rework equipment to support customer orders. Maximize production runs for efficiencies while balancing inventory within target levels. ? Project capacity overage and underage based on sales orders and forecasts. ? Support the safety program in place by performing monthly audits. ? Plans and orders all items necessary to insure the efficient operation of the plant. ? Maintain accurate inventories through the use of daily Cycle Counts. Track raw material loss weekly and reduce scrap by working with plant personnel. ? Maintain the Pull Card system and KanBan system for selected raw materials and operating supplies. ? Participates in the review of Bill of Materials. ? Prepare and monitor purchase orders throughout their life cycle. ? Work closely with the Materials Manager to maintain a Material Review Board to disposition excess / obsolete inventory in a timely manner. ? Conduct vendor analyses and secure competitive bids from selected suppliers, including minority-owned suppliers. ? Work closely with Accounting Department to maintain accurate inventory costing, update listing on pricing changes that affect operation of the plant and improve accuracy on IPV (Invoice price variance). ? Responsible for providing adequate Oracle & GSF training to personnel supporting Materials Management. ? Responsible for achieving the cost maintenance or cost reduction goals established for those purchased items under his/her control. ? Be a lead participant in the design, implementation and monitoring of an Augusta supplier performance program. ? Train others to assume responsibility for the position. Job Requirements: Qualified candidates will possess the minimum qualifications: ? Bachelor?s Degree in business and/or a minimum of 5 years of equivalent purchasing experience. APICS certification a plus and will be required within two years of starting position. ? 5 years in manufacturing operations with extensive understanding of Oracle and/or other major MRP software. Production and Inventory planning is essential to be successful in this role. There is no relocation assistance for this position.
