Cooper Lighting, based in Americus, Georgia, is an industry-leading manufacturer of lighting products for commercial, industrial, residential, utility and retail markets and is a division of Cooper Industries, a Fortune 500 Company.  We have an immediate opportunity for a Materials Manager, reporting directly to the Plant Manager.   SUMMARY OF POSITION:   1.      Manage plant material functions as well as supervise the activities of production planning, the ordering of components and, scheduling.  2.      Administer production control and purchasing policies through the different production planning and buying functions to obtain optimum results of production elements at minimum expense. 3.      Manage inventory control operations and supervise the inventory control supervisors in activities of material handling and inventory control.   4.      Manage the finished goods and shipping operations and supervise the activities of the shipping manager.   PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:   1.      MATERIALS MANAGEMENT: Institute and implement production, buying and inventory control programs, policies and plans for operations.   2.      SCHEDULING: Direct the development and issuance of master schedules and plans for production and manufacturing inventory. Specifically, manage and supervise the planning and scheduling of all “make to order” business. Approve manufactured inventory plans.   3.      PLANNING: Determine the production, manpower, components and manufactured material required to meet the production plan. Manage the planning and maintenance of optimum inventory levels of manufactured materials and finished goods through direct supervision of the production planning function.   4.      BUDGETING: Participate in the development of inventory and manufacturing budgets.    5.      PROCEDURES MAINTENANCE: Direct the maintenance of essential production control documents and files and prepare reports as required.
