Ability to work rotating shifts required.Runs a Lineman dipping shift, directs the activities of the personnel, maintains process parameters within guidelines, assures the efficient movement of product through the Lineman process, and pitches in when and where needed. Assures efficient flow of material through the Lineman finishing process.Directs the personnel and schedules the activities of his/her shift personnel. Monitors their performance and takes corrective action as needed.Maintains the process parameters and keeps appropriate logs and records. Troubleshoots processes and equipment, makes minor equipment adjustments as necessary, and contacts the appropriate Maintenance or Technical personnel when needed.During assigned shift, is responsible for keeping cement head tanks amply supplied and change racks in and out of the dip loop as required.Starts up and shuts down the Lineman Unit. He/she schedules racks to be rolled to maintain a steady flow of available ready racks for the dipping system while minimizing overtime and maximizing dips per shift.The Shift Supervisor records certain designated parameters and conditions on a regular basis. This includes temperatures, humidity, viscosities, etc. He/she takes corrective action or seeks help as needed depending on what is found when recording the data. The Production Assistant also monitors the condition of the gloves in process. He/she looks for proper dryness, rubber runs, webbing condition, foreign matter, cement flow, dipping speeds, and dip tank cement condition. He/she must also monitor the conveyor system for machinery or control problems making adjustments as able or getting help. There are also certain operations that the incumbent must be able to do to the programmable controllers using the computer provided. This might be forcing a switch or getting a turntable back in sequence. This requires special training.In running the shift, the incumbent must be sure that ample raw materials (cement) is available. He/she is responsible for filling head tanks as needed. Head tanks are filled from blend tanks. Before the Production Assistant pumps from a blend tank,he/she must be sure the viscosity is correct. The Cement Handlers are responsible to keep cement in the blend tanks. If a blend tank is low on an off shift, the Production Assistant may call in a Cement Handler or pump off mixers as needed.Incumbent monitors the job performance of the finishing area personnel and takes corrective action as needed. The incumbent consults with the Lineman Unit Superintendent about the need for taking disciplinary action with personnel. He/she maintains the time cards and work cards of the assigned personnel and completes a man-hours report explaining all overtime required weekly.Incumbent insures that the glove forms are clean and placed on properly prepared dip racks ready for the dipping process. He/she works to reduce glove damage and form breakage throughout the finishing area by monitoring both daily.With the ultrasonic thickness meter, incumbent checks glove thickness on every rack of gloves before rolling. Job Descriptions: Removes porcelain forms from carriers and pin forms on dip racks per a standardized pattern. Route carriers to Roll Room ensuring maximum bead rolling production. Removes excess rubber cement from racks after forms are removed at the Roll Room. Using pressure washer, clean racks of forms before sending to the Masterloop Operator. Remove forms from carriers after stripping and pin forms on properly balanced racks. Wash and pressure wash all forms. Removes excess rubber scrap from racks to ensure quality standards are met. Remove sub-standard forms or carriers from system. Tighten loose clips as found. Provide proper size carriers to Roll Room as needed. Using the Dip Rack Card Board, set and pin forms as needed per scheduled dip card. Operates at all times in accordance with Plant safety policies and quality system. Practices good housekeeping duties in work area. Reports all faulty or unsafe conditions to supervision. Performs other job related duties as directed by shift supervision. Commits to and participates in plant 5 S and continual improvement activities. This is a team job with the ability to remove and pin all short form racks allowing the Stripper/Turner to strip/turn racks at the rate of one rack every 18 minutes, and likewise for all glove box racks. These pinned racks must be properly balanced with the rack in the correct rack and form location. Included is pressure washing all racks of forms to minimize dirty forms that must be sent to Form Maintenance for cleaning. Also, excess rubber must be scrapped from the racks after rolling along with providing carriers to the rollers.  SPECIAL CHALLENGES Providing continuous production flow from Stripping/Turning to the Dip Room by performing duties of job without any delays. Also, providing carriers to the Rollers to prevent production delays. Following the dip card schedule to provide the correct balanced rack and forms to be dipped.
