Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic Company: FDD Location: North Las Vegas, NV Description:   Maintain and service plant production and support equipment used in the processing of highly perishable products, as needed and according to equipment service check lists, company policies, manufacturing schedules and safety procedures. Physical plant maintenance. Contact for outside vendors for service or maintenance when necessary.   1. Respond to and correct equipment breakdowns on dairy processing equipment, as needed to maintain production schedules, safety standards and quality of highly perishable goods.   2. Maintain dairy processing equipment on a scheduled basis according to company procedures and check lists, safety standards and manufacturer's suggested checklists Maintain a safe work environment.   3. Evaluate maintenance requirements relative to the physical plant and initiates maintenance via in-house resources or outside vendors.   4. Input into and access/retrieve information from computer.   5. Maintain a safe working environment         Job Requirements To be eligible for this position, an individual must posses the following requirements to perform the essential job functions:   1. One year experience as an equipment maintenance engineer in a dairy or milk processing facility with exposure to various types of processing and production equipment, such as ammonia refrigeration system, 150 pound steam system, 800 pound hydraulic system and multi-seep production equipment.   2. Ability to work under pressure and long hours in the even of an equipment breakdown.   3. High degree of familiarity with various types of maintenance equipment such as hand tools, welding equipment, power tools, jacks, pipe threaders, ladders.   4. The skills required to absorb information from manufacturer's technical manuals for the purpose of maintaining and repairing equipment.   5. Must possess effective interpersonal skills to enable clear communication of problems to vendors and equipment users for the purpose of prompt repair and the efficient operation of equipment.   6. Must possess basic mathematics skills.   7. Must possess basic reading skills.   8. Ability to input, access and retrieve information from a computer.   9. Must possess the following speech, vision and auditory charactersitics:   Speech level is required to be able to communicate in a high noise level environment.   Vision is required to absorb technical data concerning equipment and maintain and repair all parts of machinery, as well as be visually aware of the hazards of operating machinery.   Hearing is required to be made aware of hazardous conditions and to absorb communication regarding maintenance concerns from operators and vendors.   Smell is required to help identify ammonia hazards.   10. Must be able to wear and be trained in the use of a self-contained breathing unit and have no facial hair.   11. Must be able to work a shift of 10 consecutive hours (with 1/2 hour lunch break) and as overtime as demanded by equipment needs.   12. Must be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the position detailed in the "Physical Activities" section.   13. Must be able to contribute to a safe work environment.     Non-Mandatory Job Requirements  To be eligible for t his job, the individual need not posses the following factors, but these could enhance the applicant's chances for success:   1. Advanced technical training or education.

Some specific duties are: Perform routine troubleshooting and repair of equipment to include pneumatics, hydraulics, welding, power transmission and basic machining, using methods with general shop tools and equipment. Perform measurements using tools and/or test instruments such as calipers, micrometers and dial indicators. Basic electrical troubleshooting such as testing for blown fuses, tripped breakers and overloads using test equipment such as VOM. Work in a positive and safe manner. Able to work any shift and overtime as needed, including weekends and short-notice overtime. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years? experience in industrial maintenance or technical training with 3 years? experience.
