The company operates one of the largest pulp-paper mills in the world at Longview, WA; 7 converting plants on the west coast & intermountain regions and is a leader in recycled-content paper packaging. Founded in 1927 Longview is privately held by Brookfield Asset Management. The company is financially sound, has great access to capital and superior assets and capabilities. The Container Division's modern plants produce virtually any type or size of box to package a myriad of products. The company's product mix reflects the dramatic changes in packaging in the last decade and includes high graphic direct color printing, full-color litho-laminating, specialty die cuts boxes, solid-fiber boxes, point of purchase displays, bulk-bins, triple-wall boxes and large bulk-liquid bins. Longview has an immediate need for an experienced Container Production Supervisor to join their team in the Seattle Plant. The Production Supervisor is responsible for the direction, coordination and oversight of the entire production process on a designated shift. This individual reports to the plant superintendent and has responsibility for enforcing safety regulations and housekeeping practices, scheduling manpower needs, and investigating production problems to ensure efficient operations. Accountable for fulfilling customer orders in accordance with quality programs and customer specifications, maintaining key performance indicators, maintaining essential records, and training and development of the production team. Position requirements include a high school diploma and additional technical training or college courses. An AA or BS degree in engineering, manufacturing technology or business is desired. A minimum of 3+ years production experience involving heavy industrial machinery operation, with at least 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role is required. Experience in a corrugated plant or paper mill is strongly preferred. Demonstrated leadership skills, including lead-by-example management style and a passion for improving processes. Superior knowledge of and commitment to safety. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficient with MS Office programs. CPI, 6-Sigma, Lean manufacturing experience is helpful as is a working knowledge of JDE and/or Oracle systems. Experience working with organized labor is a plus.
